Kensington Hotel Blackpool Reviews
Kensigton Hotel Blackpool Jun 07, 2012
Blackpool is not a place your going to go for the 'high end' but the Kensington isn't a bad place to stay.
Located right on the promenade between the Tower and the Pleasure Beach it's ideal for getting to the main attractions. Trams run along the seafront, and there is a stop right across the road if you don't feel like walking.
Was down with a group party, so despite a whole coachload arriving all at once the rooms were sorted out very quickly. The owners, Mike and Honey, must deal with that scenario quite a lot and seem to have it down to a fine art.
There is a lift to take you to the upper floors, but I always used the stairs, where there are signs of wear on the carpets.
Rooms are pretty small but we got a room with a sea view, so that was nice. Basic tea and coffee making facilities were available, but unused, as was the television, as the resort isn't the sort of place you need to be spending any time in your room.
Toilet was very small and basic, but had all that was required, and never had any issues with plumbing or hot water, so it was fine. Maids were in every day to clean the rooms, make up the beds and and change the towels, even if it was a bit earlier than I would have like :D
Good dining room where they do evening meals, and also use for breakfast in the mornings, which was almost like a conservatory at the front. There was a games room next to it with a pool table, video games an a fruit machine.
Hotel has two bars, though mainly the one next to the reception that was open, which has a sun lounge at the front and a terrace outside. The other bar, The Chelsea Bar, is down the stairs, and used mainly at night when large groups are staying to keep the noise from disturbing other guests.
Has a few cafes close by for eating out, and more importantly for the boys, since the Derby was on, a bookies in the street behind.
All during our stay the guys(and girls) were coming and going at all hours of the day and the staff were great. Mike and Honey even came out to wave us off, so we couldn't have been to bad either :D
