Kenosha Overview

Kenosha, barely over the Wisconsin border (from Illinois) has the most bars per capita in Wisconsin. Lake Michigan on the eastern border of the city provides beautiful beaches and scenic walks, particularly in Kenosha's downtown. There are several restaurants to enjoy in this area, and of course, quite a few bars.

Kenosha is one of the cities in Green Lakes Area in Wisconsin. It is considered to be a nice weekend getaway in Wisconsin.

The city is known for its beaches, parks and a natural preserve which occupy the city’s scenic waterfront. Remember that in Kenosha, avenues run north-south and streets go east-west.

The city was founded in 1836. Now you can see old mansions and historic sites in Kenosha National Register Historic Districts:

- Thirst Avenue District, 63rd St. and Third Ave.;

- Civic Center District, 57th St. and Sheridan Rd.;

- Library Park District, 7th Ave. and 59th St.
