This small park is located on a hill above the parking lot for the Lauritzen Gardens. While the gardens have a fee, the park is free.

You can either climb a long flight of steps or take the smooth path up the hillside. That path will give you a closer look at some train wheels. A "landing" gives some background on the significance of the railroad for Omaha. Continuing along the path brings you to the top where two huge train engines--one diesel-electric and one steam--face each other. You can get really close to the engines although not in them. The trains overlook the highway, vehicles speeding by down below.

Kenefrick is not a park in the typical lots-of-grass, have-a-picnic sense (no picnic tables or restrooms) but it is definitely worth the visit if you are in the neighborhood.
