Good base to start trips to Los Glaciares Dec 20, 2008 Value: Location: Cleanliness: Amenities: Bed: Bathroom & Shower: Service: In El Calafate we were staying (3 nights) in Hosteria Kelta. El Calafate is a nice tourist village. From here you can plan excursions to National Park ‘Los Glaciares’ with its marvellous Perito Moreno Glacier. In the village are many shops (souvenir shops and places were you can buy lovely warm clothes) and restaurants. There’s a lively atmosphere in the late afternoon until dinner time. Hosteria Kelta is situated outside the village, about a 15 minutes walk. A steep walk, partially you can take steps, but in front of the hotel is a very steep slope. (Elderly) people had trouble walking it (slippery surface material). The hotel is a nice place to stay, friendly staff, room and bathroom okay, no elevator, great view on the village and lake.
