On my last day in the capital of Tatarstan I planned to visit a holy place • Raifa Virgin’s Monastery. Situated 35 km from Kazan, in the center of the part of the Volga-Kama state nature preserve, the monastery is one of the XVII century architectural pearls.

Arriving in Russia for the first time was little more difficult than I am used to, straight away I could see language was gonig to be more of a challenge than I expected, but this would just turn out to make it even more of an interesting trip.Having prety much gone there from spending the whole summer between Athens and Cyprus I never expected that it would be so cool in the early autumn, especially the evenings - should have brought warmer clothes.!Being in Kazan, to deliver a project to a ...

Kazan, the capital of the Tatarstan Republic within the Russian Federation ... perhaps like Tibet within China, rather than an indpendent country like Kazakhstan.
Kazan which is outside Siberia, and is quite different from Irkutsk and Ekaterinburg ... i has a different ethnic mix and we haven't seen anyone drinking on the street in the socially-acceptable manner.
Kazan and the republic of Tatarstan is about 60% non-Russian. But being about 40% Russian it doesn't look like it will get ...

Kazan is the capital city of the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia, and one of Russia's largest and most beautiful cities. When being on a business trip in Cheboksary I've decided to go to Kazan for one day and just walk around this beautiful city.

In 2000 I started to travel around the EurAzian continent. Not in one vacation ofcourse, there is work waiting for me at home, but in leg of 6 weeks. Every journey is about 3000 km long.
