Kayun Hostel Bali Reviews
Competitive New Hostel in Bali Oct 31, 2012
I was actually recommended the Kayun by an activities booking agent, initially I had been staying at another hostel that was far away from the beach and main strip and this hostel was the same price.
The Kayun is both a hostel and a hotel with private rooms. First off I stayed in a 4-bed private room with a couple of other girls that I met as the Kayun will allow a minimum of 3 people in a 4 bed room and at 190000RP (approx £12) per night is exactly the same price as the dorm rooms. With the private room we had air con, a private outside bathroom, a flat screen tv, inside sink area and a fridge.
Outside there is a pool and in the foyer area there is a lounge area with tv and wide choice of DVDs, there are two computers to use but there is also free wi-fi and power points to use your own electrical devices. You can also order food from here and although it's good be prepared that the arrival of the food is super slow (although you'll soon get used to Indonesian time!)You also get a free breakfast included in the price, its quite basic but includes all the staples between 6.30-10am and you can also help yourself to free and unlimited tea and coffee throughout the day.
There are also two dorm rooms, one 10-room female dorm and one 12-room mixed dorm, everyone gets a large singe bed with individual light and power point and there is a drawer under the bottom bunk that can be locked for security, there is also air con in the room. The only down side about the dorm was that the mattresses were nowhere near as comfortable as in the private rooms.
I was so pleased that I made the change to this hotel, it's fairly central and you can walk to all of the main bars (or get a taxi if you're feeling a little lazy) and if you walk down Jalan Benesari it's only 10-15 minutes to walk to Kuta beach. The staff at the hostel are so friendly as are most of the travellers, it's really easy to meet people here.
I would highly recommend it..
