Kayas Bar and Restaurant Pamukkale Reviews
Good Turkish food Apr 22, 2014
We decided to venture out to the town during our second night in Pamukkale. We were roaming the streets in search of local cuisine when we came across Kayas Bar and Restaurant. As the tourist season has not yet started properly here, most places were empty. Except for this one which is usually a good sign.
The place looked cozy and menu offered a good selection of traditional Turkish dishes.
We sat at one of the tables in an open-air terrace part of the restaurant. We were soon approached by a waiter who offered us drinks and handed food menus.
Once the drinks arrived, the waiter patiently answered all our questions about various food items on the menu i.e. what the dish comes with, are there any onions in the dish recipe. Eventually, we decided to order cheese croquets to start with, and meat with rice and veg salad for the main. My request for a half portion of lamb chop serving was met with approval.
Croquets arrived quickly and tasted delicious and fresh - not oily or greasy at all. Due to an unexpected arrival of a big table of guests, we had to wait a little longer for our main course. Luckily, our first hunger was already satisfied so we didn't mind a little extra wait.
When the main meal arrived, it did not lack quality and taste. It was served on a metal hot plate with fire burning to keep it warm. Hungry by now again, we polished off this yummy meal quite quickly and were ready to return to our hotel instantly.
Total price for the meal including soft drinks - around €11 which is pretty good price for 2.
Visit to this place is recommended for it's quality local food, pleasant atmosphere and flexibility of the chef :)
