Searching for cheap airfare can be a daunting task. Over the years multiple sites have popped up to help travelers find the best rates to the destinations they desire. Most people are probably familiar with Orbitz, Expedia, Hotwire, and Travelocity. Each of them provides some great tools for finding airfare to your destination.

The problem is, how do you know which site gives you the best deal? Its very time consuming to go to each and perform your search over and over again. That is where Kayak.com comes in.

Kayak isn't a competitor to online ticket dealers. In fact, Kayak was created by the founders of Orbitz, Travelocity, and Expedia. Kayak searches a multitude of websites for you to bring you the best possible deal. But Kayak doesn't sell the ticket to you, Kayak just provides you with a direct link to the company selling the ticket. This allows Kayak to search major airlines (United, British Airways, Delta, etc.) as well as other online ticket sellers (i.e. Orbitz, CheapTickets, etc.).

Kayak also provides a variety of search options and alert notifications to allow you to find the best prices for the flight you need. But the site searches for more than flights. You can also use it to search for car rentals, cruises, and hotels.

The site provides you with a variety of filtering tools that will allow you to find the tickets that match your exact itenerary. Don't like flying Delta? You can remove them from the search results with a simple click. Need to leave before 11:00 AM? Just slide the departure time bar to 11:00 AM and Kayak will filter out flights after 11:00 AM. Plus, you've probably noticed how online prices change from day to day. Kayak will produce a graph showing you how much the tickets cost over time. A valuable tool in trying to determine whether or not to buy now or wait a couple of days.

I have used the site for all of my recent travels. Time after time I found Kayak to be the best tool for finding the cheap tickets I desire.

Best of all, there are no fees to use Kayak, it is completely free.
