Kawase Hotel Tokyo Reviews
Amazing value for money - Ideal for a budget stay in Tokyo Apr 11, 2010
I stayed in the capsule part of the hotel and found it a perfect overall combination of cheapness, comfort and location.
Slept brilliantly every night. Great having a western shower. It was more like a quirky hostel in the form of unique capsules - rather than a capsule hotel as seen on TV.
Best part was discovering that they actually did have a common room with several tables, power points for Laptops/charging devices, a TV, cooking facilities and the chance to mingle better with travelers.
The second find was they had a really good (albeit small) sauna!
The last point is you get great service from the little old Japanese lady who brings you random food items when you are in the common room - some sushi ball, hard boiled eggs, some potato paste and cups of tea.
Finally the Wifi was very useful and seemed to be great speeds.
Location was perfect if you dont mind NOT being in the middle of things all of the time. It is close to Ueno station, a major change point for trains and access to the Yamanote (circle) line. It also had the river boat stop 2 minutes walk away, the metro station was also 2 minutes away. As mentioned, it took about 35 minutes to get to Shibuya on the Ginza line (one end of the line to the other) - but this was no problem.
Definitely worth staying here if you are not too fussy or expect a 'hotel' set up. The prices should indicate that this place would have some flaws and I am sure to some people there would have been some things they would not like. However if you want a cheap, handy place to stay I highly recommend it. AUD$25 a night with all the facilities is amazing. This place is cheaper by far than my rent in Sydney!

I quit my …Tokyo, which meant navigating the incredibly confusing train system of this city. The hostel name was Hotel Kawase Tokyo…
