Hawaii is not always about the beaches. Look at the greenery and also Waimea Canyon (the Grand Canyon of the Pacific)! Went to Kauai for the first time during Labor Day weekend. People said a weekend in Kauai is enough, but not to me. There were a few other things I wanted to see and do but didn't get the chance to!

My brother had the weekend off from the Guard, so he was able to join us for the trip over to Kaua'i.  After landing in Lihue, we drove along the southern coast to Waimea Canyon, known as the Grand Canyon of the Pacific.  The canyon is quite amazing with steep and deep walls mostly covere…

We decided on this island since its the furthest of them all and the most peaceful, serene, beautiful, and the least full of toursits. The time to travel to Kauai is in September-November thats when its the "down" season so things are a little less expensive and the island is not so crowded. There are many activities to take part in: we went on a helicopter ride, kayaked the Wai Lua River, hiked to a waterfall, went to a luau and spent days snorkeling and sunbathing..all in one week.

Sky Diving, Scuba, Tubing, Surfing, Sailing, Kayaking.... What could be better!!!

To me north Kauai is the land of milk and honey - and rainbows! Everything is lush tenfold. Exotic, warm, no creepy crawlies (-; Come see my pics

So today, my 2fellow traveling friends and I planned out some tours/excursions for our trip to Kauai in 2 weeks!  My roomie and I made a Greek dinner to start the planning (We went to Greece together and can't keep our minds off it!)...it was sooooooooooooooo yummy.  We made Chicken Gyros…

Here are some of the best ground-level views of the waterfalls and Wailua River in eastern Kauai, Hawaii.  This area is just north of the city of Lihue.

When we decided to go to Hawaii, our first thoughts were the Big Island. But as we researched the islands, Kauai quickly became our first choice. We had no idea how happy we would be with our decision!

Big Island > Maui> Molokai > Kauai
