Muy cerca, al lado de Chichen Itza, antes de llegar, esta el Cenote Ik-kil, uno de los muchisimos que hay por la zona. Un cenote, es como un charco, una pequeña laguna, de agua natural subterranea, muy fria, que forma parte de un rio subterráneo y que ha hecho el lago por desgaste de las paredes. Si este desgaste es grande, se llega a desplomar el techo (el suelo de la superficie) y entonces es un cenote descubierto, en otro caso es un cenote cubierto.
