Katikies Hotel Santorini
Katikies Hotel Santorini Reviews
Expensive, but worth every Euro! Hotel was built into the cliff face with the best views and a superb staff. Jun 30, 2007
My wife Lena and I spent our entire two week honeymoon at Hotel Katikies, and couldn’t have been more pleased with our choice. We are not much for the late night bar scenes with all the hustle and bustle that go with those types of towns, so this was perfect.
Quiet with just enough shopping, walking, and swimming to make it fun. We highly recommend the Catamaran tour on the "Blue Lagoon" with Capt. Ted. I’ll start with the only negative thing I can say about the Katikies; they will ask if you would like to “upgrade” to another of their hotels on the Island. Get a tour of the Katikies first, and then check out their upgrade before you decide where you want to stay. And, if you do change your mind, call the manager and let them know; they’ll pick you up and move you to where you want to stay. We went to the “upgrade” hotel first and stayed about a half hour. We then call the manager and told them we changed our minds and wanted to go back to the Katikies. They were more than happy to oblige us and sent the shuttle to pick us up and bring us back to where we ended up staying for two weeks. Now for the good stuff. There is no describing how great this place is! The views, the staff, the food, the rooms were all superb! This “hotel” was built into the cliff face and has some of the greatest views of the entire island, all from your own balcony. Word of warning, be ready to climb lots of steps. Our room was next to the infinite pool, which is almost at the bottom, so we got a good work out to get up to the street level. Breakfast was brought to our balcony at the time we requested by one of their excellent staff members every day. Lunch and dinner is eaten pool side at shaded tables, or with reservations, dinner can be eaten at two other seating areas, served by the most professional staff I have ever had! The food was as good, if not better, than any restaurant you will find on Santorini. Always fresh, and served hot and promptly with a smile. If there was anything we ever needed, we just asked, and the staff would make it happen. There are three pools and one open air Jacuzzi for use from sunrise to sunset. After the swimming pools have closed, you can still sit around the pools and enjoy a quite night with your favorite person and a drink. The infinite pool is the most popular, but is never over crowded. If you want to explore the island, the staff will set you up with a rental car for as long as you need it. I highly recommend a Smart Car and not a four wheeler or scooter. The roads are very narrow and scooters and four wheelers are dangerous for long trips. Now, this is not a cheep place to stay. It is not all inclusive, so you pay for everything. But, if you are going to Santorini only once, this is well worth every Euro you will spend. Before we spent our last day there, we decided to come back every five years for our anniversary. We would go back every year, but that is just not affordable.
