A beautiful shrine in vermilion May 04, 2013
Kasuga taisha's vermilion create a cheerful atmosphere among many dark color temples and buildings in Nara. This shrine was established in 768. The buildings have been rebuilding every 20 years. One of the reason is to beautify gods's residence. The other reason is a succession of technical skill of a shrine's construction. The crest of this shrine is wisteria. We were lucky to see these buildings in the wisteria season. Cloister with many lanterns were really beautiful. People from other area were surprised to see deer roam freely on the premises.

This one is colorful, in contrast to the other darker places in Nara, as you say. Adds some happy cheer!
