Kaska Vendeglo Reviews

Sep 14, 2006

On our first night in Budapest, we went to a wonderful restaurant called Kaska Vendeglo.  It's on the Buda side of the river, down a slightly dark street, but when you reach it, you'll be really glad you did!

The meal was amazing.  For an appetizer, we each got "Forrest Mushrooms in a cognac sauce", and it was very good.  They gave us bread and eggplant paste,
and it was delicious; kind of a lemon taste, and so good.

Then the meal came.  My brother got venison with a strawberry sauce, and it came with these really great twice baked potatoes, and I got the Crispy Duck with morello cherries, and this funny sticky sweet butter rice ball thing.  Anyway, it was all
delicious, and I had a glass of local wine with the meal and it was really, really good.

The service was very posh; everything came out covered in silver, and then they took off the covers in front of you with an ornate "WOOSH!" in front of you.  It was over the top, but funny.

I really enjoyed this place, and would go back anytime I was in town.
