Kashin Vacation Guide
Kashin is a small town (20000 inhabitants) in the region of Tver. The first mentioning of Kashin is dated back to 1238. Its landscape – straight streets which appeared on the town’s map in the late 18th century, hills and the river Kashinka winding across the whole town and, of course, a number of picturesque churches of different age.
Kashin is an example of a quiet regional merchant town which still retains its charm and will gladly open it to a thoughtful and observant traveler who is interested in making an acquaintance with the Russian backwoods at a relatively short distance from Moscow (220 km up north, approx. 4 hours drive).
Kashin is also known with its endemic sweet herbal liquor in typical light brown clay bottles, so don’t miss it if you manage to find one of those!
