Kapunda Vacation Guide
Kapunda was a copper mining town. It was part of the "Copper Triangle". It is about an hour drive from Adelaide. Driving into Kapunda you will see a tall statue called "Map the Miner". He was erected as a tribute to the miners that had helped establish the area. Farming is now the main industry around Kapunda.
In the early days there was a young man who took his one eyed horse called Cyclops and ended up in Kapunda to make his fortune. Sidney Kidman (later a Sir) eventually owned much of the land in the area and built his home there. His home was eventually given to the education department and is still used as a part of the High School.
