Kappa Nawate Kyoto Reviews
Crowd around the counter and just keep ordering Jun 20, 2011
I arrived late on my first night in Kyoto. Met some Australians and went out and drank too much at some less than memorable places.
The second night I found Kappa Nawate. You sit down around a counter that encircles the cooks. Alert wait staff runs around taking orders. Drinks are delivered. Food is cooked up right in front of you. Most of the food comes in small portions. So spend a few hours here. Drink and chat with your friends or other patrons. There's a very friendly vibe between everyone. And just order up some more food whenever you like.
Yakitori chicken is excellent. Draft beers in mugs the size of a small child's head, also excellent.
It's a great place to eat and drink in moderation or even excess. The key thing is that here an equal balance of the two occur.
I liked it so much, I came back on my last night in Kyoto. Felt like a fitting farewell.
