Wonderful Traditional Newari Style Hotel Nov 21, 2010
A wonderful, quaint Newari style Hotel in central Thamel.

Fortunately just far enough away from the noise to make it feel like an oasis providing you are in one at the front, or even better overlooking the courtyard.

Some building work going on around it so rooms at the back of the hotel can have a building site view and be quite noisy very early morning.

Food and servie pleasant enough.

Great Boutique Hotel May 26, 2007
Kantipur Temple House is a short walk to the main part of Kathmandu and situated in a classic old Nepalese building with fountains, wood carvings, great service, in-room cable and a very good restaurant. The staff are fantastic and we stayed there multiple times. We would highly recommend checking this place out (but it is not on a backpacker's budget).

Not sure what the current rates are as we were there in 2007 but they have a website at http://www.kantipurtemplehouse.com/

Kantipur Temple House Overview

Many of the city’s historical and cultural attractions may be found in close proximity to the Kantipur Temple House. The establishment is nearby the Hanuman Dhoka Square which is the home of a temple and to the monkeys who represent the monkey god to whom it is dedicated. The hotel is also close to the city’s oldest bazaar where guests can shop and, of course, engage in some high-spirited haggling. The Kathmandu International Airport is located approximately three miles distant from the Kantipur Temple House.

Traditional Nepalese aesthetics characterize the room design at the Kantipur Temple House. The walls are of exposed brick and the furniture is made of cane. There are 48 guestrooms for hire.

Guests of the Kantipur Temple House may take their meals at the rooftop restaurant. The hotel is built to be an eco-friendly establishment. To that end, the hotel offers its guests reusable cloth shopping bags for their excursions to nearby commercial attractions and has a naturalistic design.
