Kani Lanka Resort & Spa Kalutara Reviews
Perfect for sunbathing! :) Apr 07, 2011
Me and my younger sister got treat by our Aunt, who paid for our holiday to Sri Lanka including our accomodation, here at the Kani Lanka Resort & Spa. As everything was paid for, I can't give a fair review of the cost or value for money, but I loved my stay here! :) It is directly on the beach, which was pretty much deserted, probably due to the VERY rough sand and VERY rough sea (the sea was so rough, 1 small wave knocked me over, dragged me up and dragged me back out, I eventually managed to get back out of the water to find that the rough sand had grazed all of my arms) we only spent this 1 time on the beach. The pool was of a decent size, very peaceful and relaxing (not full of noisy kids or noisy party goers). We spent most of our time sunbathing by the pool, as the weather was gorgeous, far too humid to take a walk (it is quite a far walk to anywhere other than the resort facilities, there are constantly 'tuk tuk' drivers hastling you to get in). The hotel food was lovely if you like trying new exotic dishes, there was basics like chips and pasta for fussier eaters (my sister lived off of pasta, fries or cheese burgers the whole time we was there). They had themed nights in the restaurant which was something different each night, and one night there was a bbq with a variety of fresh fish cooked, it was lovely. The staff at Kani Lanka were all very polite and willing to help with any questions or issues, our only issue was when we 1st arrived, the floor in our hotel room was filthy (our feet were black the moment we took off our shoes). They immediately moved us to a nicer, bigger room with a better view, with a clean floor. We met quite a few other families in the resort, a few from England, 1 from Germany, they were all very friendly. On out 1st day there was a wedding at the hotel and they had an Elephant for the bride to ride, once the Elephant had played its part and was cooling down in the sea, other people staying in the resort were aloud to come out and stroke the Elephant and have pictures taken, which was nice for our 1st day. Overall, Kani Lanka Resort & Spa is a great place to stay if you are looking for a relaxing, friendly resort where you can soak up the sun and enjoy great company and lovely food. :)
