Awesome Non-touristy Bar! Dec 31, 2007
So there are a few of these around Kyoto, we only went to two of them. One of them was right outside of the Saiin Station off the Arashiyama Line. This one is relatively small (holds maybe 25 people) Then theres another one several blocks away which holds more like 100 people and is much livelier. Both were great! The employees speak enough english for you to get by and they have english menus! They're super welcoming and super nice! At the smaller one, because it was a much cozier environment, we hung out with other people in the bar, including the bartenders (read the blog for Dec 31, 2007). They have your typical bar food, chips, crappy pizzas, etc. Prices are about average for a local bar in the area. The smaller one said we were the first tourists there for the 3 years the guy had been working there so its definitely a great opportunity to mingle with the locals! If you have any questions that I didn't address in this review, feel free to ask! I would highly recommend this place to EVERYONE!

We then went to Family Mart (their 7-11), grabbed some booze and then it started to snow - just a bit. You could… Hanging out over a Hangover! Snow? |
