In Cambodian language ‘Kampong’ means ports ‘Cham’ mean Muslim. Kampong Cham is a quiet town in the center of Cambodia, with the Mekong River pass through the town. It also home of the currently only bridge across Mekong River in Cambodia, which is part of the Asia highway, National road number 6 linking Bangkok, Siem Reap Phnom Penh and Ho Chi Minh city.
It is a nice place to stop by and have lunch if you traveling between Siem Reap and Phnom Penh. It also have charming old tower which is ruined due to continue fighting the last twenty years.
