Kampala Serena Hotel Reviews
If you can afford it, stay at Serena in Kampala Dec 29, 2010
Kampala Serena Hotel is part of the Serena Chain hotels. Located in the heart of Kampala, it is one of only 2 five star hotels in Kampala. When I went home in 2008, I was blown away by the site of it all. My girlfriend Agnes invited me to lunch at the hotel. I must admit of the many hotels that deserve the 5 star status, Serena is well deserving. Beside the beautiful facade, the interior is inviting and cozy. Friendly staff and a surrounding that combines nature and architecture.
It used to be that people referred you immediately to Kampala Sheraton Hotel, now, it is Serena. No doubt I would recommend it even though I did not particularly spend a night there. But as curiosity would have it, I did take time to tour the hotel and even talked a room attendant into letting me see the rooms.
I did however dine at one of the restaurants, where were were served by a pleasant young man who took so much pride in his job that I had to tip him extra. As my girlfriend Agnes would say, “tooth can lose”. Service was beyond words. If you find yourself in Uganda, please do visit Serena.
The room pricing is high, but it is worth paying to get the comforts and service. If you can afford it, book it and use it.
It is within walking distance of Kampala Road, which is the main road in Kampala. From this point on, you have access to public transport, restaurants, cafes, banks, clinics, forex bureaus etc.
