Kamay-Kainan: Filipino Buffet Reviews

When it comes to eating Filipino cuisine buffet-style, I can only think of 3. The first two are Cabalen and Dad's/Saisaki. The third one is Kamay-Kainan.
Kamay-Kainan has always been present in the food courts of the malls. If you want cheap and quick lunch, then head to these food courts. And if you want to eat something Filipino, Kamay-Kainan could be one option for you. I only get to discover just lately that Kamay-Kainan has branched out to serving Filipino cuisine buffet-style when I went to Trinoma Mall in Quezon City. For just 295 pesos or roughly USD 6.50, you can choose and eat any Filipino food as many as you can. It is better to go there before 12nn when there will be a lot of food served. A variety of Filipino viands or ulam are served in one area of the restaurant. Sinigang na baboy, sinigang na hipon, nilagang baka, menudo, tinola, kalderetang baka, afritada, dinuguan, tahong, talaba, kare-kare, corn soup, lomi, tapa, tocino and longganisa are just some of the Filipino foods you can try and eat. Make sure you have ample of space for all of these. So if you are a big-eater and willing to try these Filipino dishes, then this is a very good deal. The only downside is the dessert. ALthough the "dirty ice cream" is a delight (because you get to scoop as many as you can), buko pandan is a disappointment. Kakanin is also available but I doubt if you still have room for this after a heavy meal. Everybody's favorite dessert, halo-halo, is surprisingly not included. |
