People i met here who contributed to, and improved my trip: Julia (Russia), John (Myanmar)
Due to heavy fog outside, John let us sleep in until 7.30am on Saturday, rather than having to wake us up at the original planned time of 6am. Within 15 minutes of wiping the sleep from our eyes, there was a…

It’s six thirty and time to get up. Looking out our window we see that it is still a bit hazy and it looks chilly but, considering that we will be walking in the hills all day, we probably won’t be cold for long.
Breakfast’s at 7, but before we can dig in we first have to make our way downst…

Het ontbijt is simpel maar goed, toast, ei, jam en lekkere fruitjuice. Om iets voor 08:00 begin…

Burmese culture is more Buddhist influenced and the way of life is much simpler than India, but still you can find some of the traditional way of life is closer to the Indian way. If given a choice to visit any country once again, I wouldn’t think twice to visit this wonderful country with amazing people.

I had to go back after my short last trip. This time I wanted to spend more time at some of the places which I liked. As one cannot travel all over the country due to restrictions on places you can visit, I had to stick to the touristy places, but still tried to do some off the beaten tracks.

One hell of an uncomfortable 16 hour bus journey later, we arrived in the small town of Kalaw, at 3am! Luckily for us a chap spoke English and took us to a hostel, trying to sell himself to us as a trekking guide (yes at 3am). The guesthouse was lovely and it was so nice to get into bed and lie str…
