Kalani Honua Oceanside Retreat - Reviews - Pahoa

Kalani is a gay-friendly retreat/resort a few miles outside of the small, hippie town of Pahoa on the Big Island of Hawaii. Kalani consists of a large Ocean-front piece of land (beautiful tropical, flower-filled property) with several cabins, treehouses, cottages, campsites, studios for art, yoga and conventions, a dining area with vegetarian/vegan foods, seafood and meals made from fresh, local ingredients (with a specialization in natural foods, Italian, Thai and Indian cuisines) and facilities such as swimming pools, etc. They have dance(hula, ecstatic, aquatic) art, yoga, pilates and tai chi instructors on the site, as well as experts on Hawaiian Culture. There is also a very spiritual aspect to this resort that is pretty isolated from society and frequented by spiritual, natural, open-minded, artistic people from all over the world. Peace and quiet are highly valued here in order to maintain a good atmosphere for meditation and relaxation. They also offer massages (all different techniques) to guests, as well as once-a-week sight-seeing trips to Hilo and activities around the island, including snorkeling, hiking, scuba diving, canoeing, etc.
