After 4 hours on a train from Zunyi (where I live) to Guiyang, the prov. capital of Guizhou… My girlfriend and I hoped another train to Kaili (another 3 hours). Burnt out and tired we ended up grabbing a hotel near the train station in Kaili. The hotel was clean and reasonably priced but as we discovered after dropping out stuff off… a bit far from down town. It turns out that the train station in Kaili is on the outskirts of town which makes it hard to hop back to the hotel during a hot ...

I departed Beijing West Railway station yesterday afternoon. Thanks to my friends Xu Min and Mama for helping me with shipping my bike and finding my train. The train ride was about 30 hours and there's not much to say about it. I got called my first 'laowai' on the train (my translation of laowai is: one who is not Chinese like us).
