Vienna views from above Oct 13, 2011
Take the 38A bus to Kahlenberg or Leopoldsberg to have some beautiful views of the city. Easy to reach and plenty to do along the way. On the bus, you can get off at Fernsprechamt Heiligenstadt and head up Nestelbachgasse to see a cool old church or walk down Probusgasse to see one of Mozart's former homes. You could also take a stop at Grinzing to take a break at one of the many Heurigens (local wineries) for a glass of wine (or sturm in the fall!) and some delicious local eats. On top of Kahlenberg there are also a couple cafes. There is also a little road/trail (find Villenweg then take the right fork in the road) NW of the lookout located near cul de sac. Follow this trail to Stefaniewarte (http://www.wien.info/en/sightseeing/green-vienna/stefaniewarte). There you get really beautiful views of Austria in all directions and can see quite far on a clear day. There are also lots of walking trails on top of Kahlenberg and you can even walk down or up Kahlenberg. These trails take you through some of the vineyards but also take quite a bit more time than the bus option. One of these trails leads to Hutte am Weg, another nice stop for a bite to eat. Signage is well marked so it is easy to find.
