Kabale Vacation Guide

Kabale is the main town of Kabale District in south western Uganda. Kabale town has a population of approximately 41344 people and the town is about 2000m above sea level. Many visitors to Uganda will probably come through Kabale at some stage on their journey. Whether proceeding to Bwindi or Mgahinga for Gorilla tracking.

Kabale is a traditional market town and a transport hub as it is the gate way from Kampala through to the border with Rwanda at Gatuna approximately 10 km away. Another road continues westwards to Kisoro, where travelers may continue to either the Democratic Republic of the Congo or the Rwandan town of Ruhengeri.

Touristically, Kabale is know to be the stop point for all visitors to Lake Bunyonyi, Bwindi, the virungas and Mghaninga. Kabale has some of the most breath taking landscapes with farmers farming along hill sides creating a feast for the eyes.

The Bakiga tribe are dominat in this region.

The touristic attraction of this park is the gorilla tracking. It is very worth to visit this park and do the tracking. You have to buy a permit for the tracking, during the high travel season, you have to book the permit months before.

One of the members of our group put it perfectly "We found paradise"!!! The lake is beautiful, the secnery stunning and it is the perfect location to relax for a couple of days to unwind from the traveling and the excitement of the gorillas. Althought as it is a crater lake the drive up was enough…
