Well basically, if you're going to Guatemala, you just can't miss going to Antigua. It has amazing old buildings, exquisite. The streets have serious beauty and culture. Markets are a whole other experience, the people are extremely kind and have some very interesting and unique things for sale. Be sure to barter though! Make sure you pick up some of the coffee, it's one thing you can't leave without.

…amazing flows of lava but had to settle with the amazing redish
orange glow from just behind the peak and some smaller lava flows,
things like that you just have too except as nature being the way it is
and that things don't always go to plan and not get annoyed about it.
It was still worth it as even what we did get to see was mind… Joe(l) (and Debs) vs. the Volcano |

…The plan was to do a kind of re-con loop to see what was around before we made any purchases, so that we wouldn't have to carry things for too far. That plan fell apart about 10 minutes into things :) The market was so huge (and crowded), I wasn't sure if we'd navigate our way back to the right vendor if we had spotted something we liked. Even though I got to bed after midnight, I still woke up about 20 minutes before the thing went off. That probably means that I will be sleeping good tonight.
I packed my things, paid for the hotel, and headed out with my pack to find a taxi to the bus station. I tried three different taxis before finding… Traveling into Guatemala |

I am beginning to realise that I seem to hold grudges over very silly little things like being locked out of my room in nothing but a towel. Anyway, peace is what we have for the time being. Long may it continue - until I get bored that is.
We left from the scenic village of Panajachel and headed back to Antigua… Peace in our time? |
