Tourist prices may exist, but we certainly don't feel the pinch: hotel buffet breakfast USD1pp nice meal in westernised restaurant USD1.5pp latest DVDs USD0.75 nice trousers (incl hemming the legs) cost less than the price to hem them in NZ haircut at hotel USD1.2, the hairdresser made a special trip from home on his day off!   We went for a walk around the local area once we arrived back at the hotel and had our only experience of a shopkeeper trying to diddle us - tried to short change us and showed absolutely no embarrassment when we caught him out, just shrugged his shoulders and laughed!  Luckily this was not a common experience, although a few members… City of Flowers

Arrive a Kumning, notre chambre d hotel prealablement reserve nous attendait, dans le bus ou en sortant du bus, on compris tres rapidement une fois de plus que la communication allait etre difficile, pour demander notre chemin, personne n etait vraiment receptif. On arriva enfin a l hotel mais on reparta… Kunming, China

The nice thing about arriving in Kunming is the airport is really near the city, we got to our hotel in about 10 minutes. I booked the Mercure Hydro Majestic chiefly because of its grand name and because it was cheap (30US$). It's a good hotel (later we will realise this is the best accommodation we will have for a looooong time) with… A freezing hostel and hot hotpot
