Going back to Nature Mar 14, 2011
This hotel is beautifully located cross the river from Chitwan National Park. The hotel consist of several basic bungalow made from wood at their big garden compound. The bungalow has their own balcony and on each opposite bungalows have a separate hut to sit and enjoying the garden. The room itself quite spacious with air condition, fan and own bathroom. I love the feel of this environment, where you can hear so many birds singing, elephant calling to each other, monkeys noise, etc. However it is a bit difficult to sleep for the first night as so many different noises out there.

When we first arrived at the hotel, the manager greet us with a "tika", they give a red dot on your forehead as a welcome gesture. and then they give us lunch even though we arrive late at 4pm as we have a flat tire on the way there. After lunch, they take us to walk around the village and watch the sunset. so beautiful.. I would love to spend more days there.

Chitwan – Jungle Safari Lodge Nov 07, 2010
• Rooms…Not what we’d hoped for bearing in mind the price wed paid. However, it was a big room with a big double and a single bed with mosquito nets that’s seen better days…a long time ago.

• Common areas…The garden was pleasant and quiet – a peace shattered only by the occasional boom of an elephant’s trunk! The dining area was open and comfortable except when then staff turned on the ceiling fans during dinner.

• Food…Again, not what we’d believed we would be having for the price. It was a full-board place so we’d already bought all meals in advance. Some of the selections: Cauliflower with Glace cherries in a watery white sauce with the stale cornflakes leftover from breakfast, served with salty rice and salty noodles…ultra-chewy and bland ‘buff’ steaks (they don’t eat beef/use any bovine produce as the cows are holy here so this was water buffalo meat with salty rice and salty noodles. Deserts were a bowl of really lumpy custard-like stuff. They did do a marvellous Daal Bhat one night though.

• Location…Right next to one of the cheap places that we had been led to believe (by the Lonely Planet) were not available in Chitwan. A few minutes’ walk to the main strip of town and the river.

• Staff…We had to produce our receipt (again) to convince the receptionist that we had paid for an air-con room so that he’d turn the power on for the machine. The manager was quite comical in his commentary of the ‘cultural evening’: “dear guest, we are now to experience traditional dance with name, in their own languages…”. The restaurant staffing plan was an achievement – all of Nepal’s surliest people had been assembled here! The guide was a bit misguided in his aims for our experience. When we came across the rhinos we were only standing watching them for around 3 minutes before he hustled us off. The next stop was a barn with some explanations of the National Park and it’s animals (where we read that he’d told us the wrong name for the rhinos – he was under the impression that they were the black rhino, only found in Africa) which was all copied from the guide-book and then on to the river bank to sit for about 30 minutes before the sunset. Now, call me picky but I can see a sunset anywhere and this wasn’t the most romantic or visually stunning of those that I have watched, what I cannot do anywhere is see the rhinos so my theory is; stay at the once in a lifetime experience for as long as possible!!

I BELIEVE THIS REVIEW IS POSTED ON WRONG LOCATION. Two comments about our room clarify this comment is for different hotel not for Jungle Safari Lodge..

However, it was a big room with a big double and a single bed with mosquito nets that’s seen better days…a long time ago.

---Our room does not have mosquito net at all.

Staff…We had to produce our receipt (again) to convince the receptionist that we had paid for an air-con room so that he’d turn the power on for the machine
-- Dear Sir, we do not sell non A/C room at all. Rooms or packages what we sell are Air Conditioned Room. There will be no question from our manager to check if its AC room or non AC room.
