Jumbo Kingdom Reviews
The ultimate in tacky Jan 21, 2011
Jumbo Kingdom is one of Hong Kong's tourist attractions and a tour of HK will inevitably end in a meal there. Based out in Aberdeen Bay, it's the world's largest floating resturant designed as a big palace. Tacky enough for you yet?
The food is okay but obviously pre-heated which is poor, considering the price (Jumbo is not cheap) and the staff are fairly annoying. The biggest problem with the place is that it doesn't really know what it's suppose to be. It tries to be a posh resturant but at the same time a tourist attraction and gets caught somewhere in the middle. Almost all the people eating their were tourists as well, it was obvious by the photo-taking and the fact this is well out of the average Hong Konger's price range.
It should also be noted that Jumbo Kingdom apparently hasn't turned a profit in over a decade and is kept alive purely because it can be due to its title of world's largest floating resturant. If nothing else, that should tell you plenty about the dinning experiance there.
Hong Kong has much better places to offer than this and they won't make you cringe either. Avoid.
