Juk 1001 Iyagi Seoul Reviews
A good place for local food Jan 31, 2010
Juk 1001 Iyagi is located in a side street to the Insadong gil. The restaurant is small and has only seven tables. There was only one older lady working there. She did not speak English, but luckily the menu had photos of the different dishes, so I just pointed at a picture. The lady smiled and disapeared into the kitchen.
I wanted to try a typical Korean dish and ended up choosing the juk. Juk is a traditional, slow-cooked rice porridge that is mixed with a wide choise of ingredients. The rice is cooked with much more water than normal and it is not spicy. Yuk has become very popular as a healthy and well-being food. This little place has 17 options packed with healthy, natural ingredients, ranging from snails and mushrooms to seafood and they are served with four side dishes. Some choises are vegetarian. I went for the chicken ginseng one. It was different, but it made a good meal. All dishes are served with green tea.
Juk 1001 Iyagi is authentic and a good place if you would like to try juk.
