Jugendstil in Budapest Nov 10, 2017
The Hungarian Jugendstil did have a political function as well showing by using traditional styl elements the opposition to Vienna and the more or less official "ärarischem" Baroque like style.

A good place to start is the Iparmüvészeti múzeum (Museum of Applied Arts, http://www.imm.hu/), located in Üllői út 33-37 and built by Ödön Lechner. He did also the Magyar Földtani és Geofizikai Intézet (geological Institute), the Postsparkasse (postal savings bank), the Zoo and the Szent László templom church).

See als the Gresham Palace (today Four Seasons Hotel Gresham Palace Budapest) by Zsigmond Quittner, the Gellertbad (Spa and Hotel) by Artúr Sebestyén...

From Vienna by train 2.40 hours, with early online booking from € 19 onway, cheaper but slower by bus and much cheaper and slower via Bratislava by bus.
