Definitely not the best bar in town Dec 17, 2010
Joy ride is probably the most popular bar in town, definitely not the best. Located in the prime location off the Plaza de vienti-cinco de Mayo Joyride is well positioned in the tourist center of Sucre. Meals are very expensive and the few that I have had have been very disappointing. One example, the Pesto Pasta, came out with the pasta under cooked and a thin veil of stir through pesto. Accompanying the dish were two modest pieces of from frozen garlic bread. The meal could have been greatly improved by using more fresh ingredients like spinach and pine nuts. Shaved Parmesan would not have been a bad idea either.

The staff are numerous however the service is incredibly slow. This seems to be due to the large number of staff who pass the orders many times. Staff are dressed in the horrible merchandise of the bar and generally very unhappy looking. I have heard on the grapevine that the better staff are being recruited by Florin restaurant which is Joyrides greatest competitor and better restaurant. The door men are very rude and have attempted to intimidate me and a few of my friends with their body language. This is futile to me as they are only 5’6”. But I still have the urge to head-butt them where they stand.

Unfortunately the bar is the most popular in town and you will be likely to end there at some point if you are following the party. That’s fine, just eat at a nice restaurant before you take a glass with your amigos.
