Leaving Los Angeles and heading East you will find the desert. Sometimes a lot of desert and hot temperatures. Joshua Tree, in addition to being made famous by the band U2, is an outdoor playground on the boundaries of the Mojave and Sonoran desert lands. In summer the park temperatures can reach over 100 degrees F (40+ degrees C). January is a great time to visit with cooler temperatures and less crowds. In this case, we also found that yes, you can see snow in the desert! :)

We go back to Sals and crash out for something like one and a half hours. My alarm goes off at 3:30am to wake us up but I'm a notorious snoozer - and I'm thinking.. how precisely do you wake up a bunch of people you love dearly but don't know how they react to being woken up!? Hell if I'm woken up …
