We go back to Sals and crash out for something like one and a half hours. Sal drove us out of Palm Springs and into Joshua Tree National Park's west entrance via I-10 west and the CA-62 east. On the drive through Morongo Valley, the sky was clear for some stargazing from the car's side windows and moon roof! I definitely saw Orion and Pleiades but we were …

It was so hot here. The day we went it was 41 degrees Celsius (about 105F!) but I loved every minute of it. The Mojave Desert is so beautiful, and has such a huge range of wildlife.

Everyone that knows me knows that for me the perfect travel destination depends just as much on the people as much as the place...JACKPOT! Palm Springs was the best of both worlds! I'll start with my pics then fill in the gaps...it's late and I'm TIRED! ;)

Although sleeping in the desert is wonderfully romantic, it's just not nearly as comfortable as a good old fashioned bed. I awoke feeling like I'd been trampled by coyotes. One of the guides did let me try his yerba mate, which made me feel a bit better.
Our first stop for the day was the Cholla C…

Second day we hiked up across some rocks. I was looking at a cactus and didn't notice my father walking ahead. When I looked up, he was a way in front of me, so I started sprinting towards him. Jumping over rocks I almost stepped on a rattlesnake. When I realized what I had done I freaked out and s…
