Delicious traditional food at Jose Antonio, Lima's Criollo Restaurant May 17, 2010
Jose Antonio is the name of a famous character from the coast of Peru and couldn't suit better to this place, which served delicious traditional dishes from Peruvian coast cuisine.

This restaurant has been working for over 33 years, always keeping the tradition and style.

Yes, this is not cheap and even a bit higher than the average, but totally worth it. The quality of the food and service is just great. The decoration is very nice too. It remembers to a wealthy hacienda. All wooden decor and elegant atmosphere.

The menu is about Peruvian food. The food is different in every region and here they focus on the Criolla one, which belongs to the coast. They also serve fish, but the highlight is the beef. Mom had birthday and we decided to go there for dinner, what a great choice.

After getting our complimentary bread and studying the menu, we ordered the following:

-Tiradito de pescado: thin slices of rawfish with a yellow pepper sauce. It was so fresh and tasty. I loved the presentation of the corn.

-Lomo Saltado: Sauteed beef. This is one of the most popular dishes from Peruvian Cuisine. It's simple but so tasty when it's well done. This restaurant got the award for Best Lomo Saltado last year. Beef was so tender!

-Pollo Saltado: a variation of the former dish, using chicken instead of beef. Chicken was so juicy, perfectly cooked!

-Seco de Lomo con Frejoles: first of all the size of this dish was massive. The beef is cooked with cilantro and served with rice and beans. Very good too.

They offer cocktails and have a good wine selection, but you can bring your own one too, which will be way less expensive.

We saved room for dessert. Mom and me shared the traditional:

-Suspiro a la Limena. It was one of the best I've ever tried. (Best it's mom's...) Very sweet but still not too overwhelming. A very rich flavor.

They offer a daily buffet for lunch. I know this place might not be top of your list if you are in a budget, but if you want to try a very good traditional cuisine, you might consider to stop by. Great atmosphere, service and of course food
