Jolly Rogers

Jolly Rogers restaurant is one of the main restaurants on Caye Caulker. It is run by Jolly Rogers and his interior decorator went for a rather minimalistic decoration of the place. Such things as old paintings and stuffed fish on the walls have been dropped. Actually such things as walls and roof have been cut away as well. So basically you sit on the beach on a table which could have been used at a highway rest stop.

The menu is very simple as well. There are only two things on the menu every day. Grilled Chicken or grilled lobster. The grilled lobster come with rum and coke Belize still, it seems like rum is cheaper than coke in Belize which is reflected in the composition of the rum and coke. There is definitely more rum in the rum and coke than would be the case in Europe.

The lobster is very good and the garlic mash potato which goes with it is just superb. The service is friendly with a smile and the company is great as the night goes on and more and more people will come to the restaurant you are kindly asked to squeeze a bit closer together so the new guest can sit at the table. Which give you a possibility to discus next days diving adventure with some complete strangers.

The location right on the beach means you will have great front row seats to check out what is happening on the beach. With a bit of luck you will get to Jolly Rogers, when there is some outdoor Caribbean music going on.
