Jolene Bar Copenhagen Reviews
This is not a fucking cocktail bar! Jun 12, 2010
Jolene is a fabulous bar with great ambiance situated in the always trendy Flæsketorvet, a part of Copenhagen’s own Meatpacking District in the Vesterbro part of Copenhagen.
The bar is owned by two Icelandic girls Dóra and Dóra, who 3 years earlier opened a crazy popular bar with the same name in another place in Copenhagen. Here they had to close it due to too much noise and popularity; the bar was only open in 4 months before they had to close.
The two girls came up with the idea sitting in Reykjavik, that they wanted to open a bar in Copenhagen while they were listening to Jolene sung by Dolly Parton. The therefore went to Copenhagen to scout for what was missing and quickly identied that there was a lack for a real bar with nice dj-music and their role model was the Reykjavik-club Sirkus.
Since the middle of 2008 the Jolene has been back in town again and now in an area where noise does not matter so much and I find it is a great place to visit and party at; especially after you had a long quiet dinner. At Jolene you will always find a fully packed place with some great DJs playing; some of the best Danish are to be found here.
The interior is raw mixed with old sitting chairs but the bar together with the dj-booth are still the centre pieces of the place. It is a bar where you preferable drink shots of any kind, or you drink beers from the bottle; if you want to be really advanced you go for a gin & tonic or a rum & coke. This is far from a cocktail bar; it is a bar with great music.
I think that the bar rocks and I am far from the only one.
