John O'Groats Overview
Taigh Iain Ghròt (scotish gaelic) is a village in the very north of the scotish mainland. Because of it's location it's regarded as the most northerly point of Scotland for the tourists. The actual northerly point is neaby (Dunnet Head). If you're seeking to see the sign though you should Hil during the summer. In winter months the sign is removed due to previous thefts.
It's said that the name came from a Dutchman, who got the right to have a ferry from the scotish mainland to the Orkneys.
John o' Groats has around 300 people living there.
