John G. Shedd Aquarium Chicago Reviews
Fun and educational for kids and adults Apr 27, 2012
Shedd Aquarium is one of my favorite places in Chicago. Located in Museum Campus close to the Field Museum and Adler Planetarium, this is a place that's bound to be both fun and educational for people of all ages.
The first thing you see when you get inside Shedd Aquarium is its 360 degree cylindrical tank, called Caribbean Reef, located in the center area. The tank consists of many different varieties of fish, stingrays, turtles, eels, sharks, etc. The Caribbean Reef has one of the clearest and most close-up views to these creatures.
Next, straight to the right of the entrance into Shedd Aquarium, the first exhibit you'll come to is the Amazon Rising. It's a big exhibit in dim lighting (except for inside the tanks), and contain many different species of water creatures that live in the Amazon river and jungle. We were able to see spiders and piranhas, among others
Another fun exhibit is Waters of the World, which contains different galleries, each featuring a different type of water, including lakes, rivers, and oceans. We were able to see turtles, seahorses, octopus, starfishes, and many other cool looking creatures.
Right outside Shedd Aquarium is the best view of the skyline of Chicago, complete with the Willis Tower (formerly Sears) and Hancock Building along Lake Michigan. If you're going to Chicago, this is not a place to be missed!
