Johanna's Ajijic Reviews
Excellent german food by the lake Jan 19, 2011
Johanna's is a little piece of Germany in the middle of Ajijic, a small retirement town by the shore of Chapala Lake, in Jalisco, western Mexico.
Difficult to miss, as a typical german house sits in the middle of Spanish-colonial style houses with ample front gardens, in the La Floresta neighborhood of Ajijic.
Johanna's is most commonly frequented by American retirees living along the shore of Chapala Lake, mainly in the town of Ajijic. There are approximately 45,000 Americans living here at any given time of the year.
Johanna's specialties are the wild boar, bratwurst and deer meat, served with potatoes and chucrú, and one of the many kinds of German beers, some unique to this place in Mexico.
Prices are moderate and service is personalized, Johanna herself supervising the kitchen and eating alongside her guests in this little known German gem of a place.
