Jinta Andaman Kata Reviews
Jinta Andaman Dorm Beds Mar 29, 2013
Jinta Andaman is actually located at a series of shop lots. The reception is located behind the Racha Guesthouse. If not sure, just ask anyone there. Caught the taxi van here from the airport. 200Baht. Journey took about 2hrs since they have to drop off the other passengers in the taxi bus.
Jinta has private rooms in addition to dorm beds for women. Why I chose the place was because instead of a series of bunk beds in a room(aka not much privacy), Jinta Andaman had actual cubicle per bed. The beds were singles in its own curtained of cubicle/room equipped with a fan, a safe & a table. Each dorm has 5 beds. At about USD13 per night, for me it was quite good value for money. There were 2 showers with hot water & 2 WC & sinks. The common room has a kettle, tea coffee facilities, a fridge and sitting area. Laundry is about 60-80Baht per kilo depending if you want ironing or not. Best thing is you get your laundry back on the same day itself. The girls sometimes even just put it on your bed is if you asked them and have paid ahead. The cubicles get cleaned everyday about 4 pm and new towels laid out.
Reception are open 7am-12midnight. Service is great. Pimm & Wan ever so helpful. They have motorbikes for rent at 200-250Baht per day. If you need a ride or pickup from somewhere, they do arrange it for a fee as well, which I prefer rather than dealing with the outside taxi/tuk tuk drivers. Taxi bus back to the airport can be arranged at the reception for 250Baht. The most reasonable rate along Kata. Jinta has no restaurant but a few steps away is the coffee house for Racha Guesthouse. They serve breakfast sets for 100Baht. Fairly value for money eats here and the food is also good.
Kata beach is like 15mins walk away (though past a smelly canal) or 30mins if you take the long way on the left (hence bypassing the smelly canal). If you take the right and don't mind the longer walk, you can get to Karon beach. Plenty of tuk tuk on the main road if you don't want to walk.
However, the shower facilities & WC is getting worn & dingy. Need to be maintained. The rooms need more hanging space/hooks for towels & clothes. And as usual the beds in Thailand.. ever so awfully hard!!
