Jin Fu Rong (金芙蓉) Chengdu Reviews
Classic Chinese Cuisine & Character Nov 26, 2014
This restaurant is located in the Wen Shu Fang (文殊坊) area which is a folk and cultural district with shopping, restaurants, sculptures, folk artists, temples, old style architecture and generally good for walking around entertainment. Some of the things around here are replicas of the old world, as it was built as a City Recreational District in 2006 and Wen Shu Fang Street is today the widest pedestrian street in Chengdu. There are some original old world things here like Wenshu Temple, built during the Tang dynasty (618-907 AD), which contains many ancient relics.
Jin Fu Rong (金芙蓉) has it all in Sichuan culinary offerings - roast duck, hot pot, dumplings and a variety of traditional and specialty dishes, including Chairman Mao Zedong's favorite dish: Red-Braised Pork (Hongshao Rou), which are large cubes of pork belly with caramelized sugar and Shaoxing rice wine. The restaurant has open dining areas on the lower floor and private dining rooms on the upper floors. It's quite a large establishment and done up in old style decor and architecture. The food was good and plentiful in variety, and the atmosphere pleasant. The surrounding Wen Shu Fang area is quite nice to walk around for an after dinner stroll.
