MONSTER Cupcakes! Dec 29, 2010
You want to talk about MONSTER cupcakes -- these things are absolutely humongous! And incredible. On any given day, Jilly's has an assortment of a dozen different flavors to choose from. I tried to different cupcakes; the gingerbread (a December specialty) and the chocolate birthday sundae (an everyday offering; it was my birthday afterall). First of all, these cupcakes are about the size of softballs. Plus, they have layers of icing swirled on them. The gingerbread had a layer of cinnamon cream cheese icing with a layer of cream cheese icing on top of that, with a caramel filling, topped with a gingerbread cookie. This was Christmas in my mouth. The chocolate birthday sundae I got was chocolate cake with chocolate icing (the other birthday sundaes available: chocolate with white icing, vanilla with chocolate icing, or vanilla cake with white icing), with sprinkles and a cherry on top... plus a candle! The chocolate cake was perfect, and the chocolate icing was so thick that it was like a rich chocolate mousse. Amazing. I can't even describe how incredible this chocolate icing mousse was. Their website, jillyscupcakebar.com explains all the different varieties of cupcakes that are available.
At face value, the cupcake are expensive, $5 a piece. BUT, they are well worth it. They are easily big enough to share or take leftovers home. In addition to their cupcake menu, Jilly's also has a breakfast and lunch menu that looks delectable as well; I will be going back to try it.
Jilly's is pretty easy to find; on Delmar at I-170. It's in the same building as Taste of India (another restaurant that I would be willing to try). Definitely don't miss out on the cupcake wonderland of Jilly's Cupcake Bar!

CUPCAKES MADE FOR 2 Oct 18, 2008
I went here at Thursday with James, right before they closed. we met Jilly, i like to meet the owners of small business. i show her my cupcake tat and she said i had a right to have a free cupcake. that was so nice of her. i told her i like cheesecake and chocolate. she suggested i would like the chocolate thunder. ok i twisted my arm. Chocolate devil’s food cake infused with chocolate syrup, stuffed with dark chocolate ganache and topped with chocolate and white chocolate buttercream, white and dark chocolate shavings and a marbled chocolate bark. WOW SO RICH AND HUGE. IT IS A CUPCAKE MADE FOR 2. IT WOULD TAKE ME 2 WEEKS TO FINISH THAT. Not bad for the price.
