Jijabai Udyan aka Victoria Garden Mumbai Reviews
Many names but one huge garden Sep 27, 2011
Jijabai Udyan aka Victoria Garden is popularly known as Ranicha Baug for locals. It is a vast botanical garden with rare trees and plants. This garden also has a zoo built in. Pricced at 5 INR (Around 10cents US) this place entrance is secured. Metal detectors in place also staff checking the carry on bag while entering.
We cant take food items inside the park and feeding animals is prohibited. I have seen Elephants, Hippos, Rhino, Ostriches, Monkeys, Hyena, Spotted deers etc.. Most of them are inside hude iron cages.
Opposite to the park there is a museum now names as Dr. Bhau Daji lad museum, originally famous as Victoria and Albert Museum. This museum has the original rock elephant statue identified in Elephanta caves, one of the major attraction of Mumbai. This city museum has many hand made articles represnting about Indian lifestyle. Photography is prohibited. For Indians the entrance fee is 10 INR. For others around 2USD.
This place is located close to Byculla Central railway station.
