Fantastic Rustic Japanese Adventure! Apr 04, 2014
From Tokyo the bullet train will take you to Nagano where you catch the local train to Yudanaka. From Yudanaka it's best to bed down for the night. After a good sleep in a traditional Japanese ryokan you will probably have a delicious, home cooked breakfast. When you are all fueled up on Japanese deliciousness grab a driver to the Snow Monkey park. It's a very easy walk into the park. The surroundings are quiet, peaceful, super clean and just beautiful.

First you will come to a stream where you will see a small geyser. There will be a number of monkeys hanging out in this area and they have no fear of people. They just chill out and groom each other.

Finally, you head up the trail a bit further and happen upon a lovely onsesn (hot spring bath) where I saw at least 50 Snow Monkeys, from small babies to the largest of males.

Really, the pictures tell the story best. I traveled here alone and it was a very easy trip. Please respect the park and the monkeys; don't leave garbage!
Such a Face!
