Jerusalem Panorama Hotel Reviews
I didn't like the rooms Mar 07, 2014
The hotel is located in the Arab neighborhood.
We like the fact that the hotel is just 5 minute-walking distance away to the Garden of Gethsemane, the Church of the Nation, Garden Tomb and other religious sites by that area. It is also twenty minutes walk to Zion gate and Damascus gate of the Old City, and about twenty minutes walk also to Damascus tram station and stations for buses for Bethlehem and other cities of the West Bank.
There is a small convenient store next to the hotel building. We bought a couple of water bottles from that store. Fruits stand is around the street corner and because of that there are liters around the roadways.
The hotel building is old. There is a foul smell due to old plumbing perhaps. We smelled it each time we passed the house cleaning room in the second floor.
The hotel lobby is clean though. There is free and fast Wi-Fi connection in all areas of the hotel. Password is needed to connect and you have to ask for it otherwise, they don’t voluntarily give it.
Breakfast is inclusive in the room rate. They serve the usual Middle Eastern breakfasts – boiled eggs, hummus, cheeses, vegetables (olives, cucumbers, tomatoes), cereals, sweetened or canned fruits, canned tuna fish, canned meat loaf and the famous halva sweets (roasted sesame made into a pulverized consistency). It’s in this hotel where I tasted the best Turkish coffee.
The staffs in the dining room are nice but the guy who works at the reception desk is quite aggressive.
The dining room has a nice view of the walled old city.
Their rooms are not very fond to stay at. We were given a room that feels filthy but we asked to move us into another room. It’s still the same, however. The carpet in particular is ragamuffin. We stayed 3 nights here despite the dirty rooms because payment is non-refundable and they already charged our debit/visa card even before we checked in.
The bathroom is not dirty but I was not comfortable using it either. Soaps and shampoos are provided. One of the towels has some smears of black color stains.
The taxi driver they recommend to us ripped us off severely –he charged us 75 shekels just to go to Davidka Square.
We had interesting experiences, but probably not one that we would want to repeat.
I do not recommend this hotel.
