Jericoacoara Overview

Considered by "The Washington Post" one of the 10 most beautiful beaches in the world. In reality it is murky, extremely shallow sand beach, good only for kids that don't know how to swim. Good beaches are located outside of Jeri, and that is where most of the Kite-surfers go.
This is the best spot in Brazil for windsurfers and kite-surfers, where the wind season starts in August and goes until December, the water temperature is very good, and winds average 25 knots almost every day.
Jericoacoara is an ex-fishing village (there are still some people fishing, but most of the locals are into tourist service business) with real charm and tranquility. The area surrounding Jeri is a National Park, and there are no paved roads going to the village. Every path is a sand trap and you need a truck, buggy or 4x4 vehicle to move around. The surrounding area is full of beautiful sand dunes, patches of palm and mangrove forest, nice lagoons and long beaches that are used as roads. It's around a 5-hour drive from Fortaleza, the capital of the state, but definitely worth going there.

Don't miss Lagoa do Paraíso (Paradise Lagoon). You'll feel like in heaven.
